Technology is commonly thought of as the silver bullet to improving teaching and learning outcome. Apple’s focus on education means that devices including the iPad and MacBook are ideal options when it comes to delivering technology solutions for educators and students. However, the devices are only part of the story.

All too often the focus of technology acquisition is simply on the unit price of the hardware. Broader issues which effect teaching and learning outcomes may not be fully considered. For example, do teachers have access to professional learning opportunities so they are fully equipped to use the new technology effectively? How will devices and network services be efficiently managed? What happens if student devices need to be repaired?

Queensland Academies Creative Industries

Queensland Academies Creative Industries (QACI) is a selective entry state school offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme to students in Years 10 - 12. QACI students use MacBooks exclusively.They also have the option to use iPads as an additional tool.

The School Locker and Mac1 Service team has been running the QACI year 10 ICT inductions since 2012.
