Details
Basic Biomechanics of the Musculoskeletal System uses a direct and comprehensive approach to present students with a working knowledge of biomechanical principles of use in the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunction. The text opens with a chapter that introduces the basic terminology and concepts of biomechanics; the remainder of the book then focuses on the biomechanics of tissues and structures, the biomechanics of joints, and applied biomechanics. This text is geared toward the fundamental, quantitative aspects of biomechanics, but it is differentiated by a greater emphasis on applying the principles to a clinical setting - ie, how do biomechanical deficiencies present clinically. It uses case studies throughout and includes special applied chapters. Although some faculty consider the text to be graduate level, mainly because of the amount of math, it is designed to be an introductory text that can be referenced beyond the first or second year, throughout the student's education, residency, and practice.
