Bonjinsha Basic Kanji Book Vol.1 (2nd ed.)

Since its publication in 1989, the Basic Kanji Book and its companion the Intermediate Kanji Book have become standard resources for kanji learning. In these new editions, students can expect learn how to:

• memorize kanji systematically;   

• improve usage; and 

• recall memorized kanji with greater ease. 

To ensure the series remains current, certain vocabulary, examples and bilingual translations were reviewed, and the layout of the Basic Kanji Book series has been completely revised.     

Instead of simply instructing students to memorize kanji as they show up, these books introduce the origins of each character systematically, showing how these characters are used in combination with other kanji to form words often seen in daily life.

Roughly 250 kanji are covered in volumes 1 and 2 of Basic Kanji Book and Intermediate Kanji Book, so that upon completion of the series, students will have memorized 1000 kanji.
